Nottingham Forest handed fresh transfer hope ahead of January window

The latest Nottingham Forest transfer news includes an update on Real Betis and Argentina target Guido Rodriguez.
Nottingham Forest have gained a boost following the failure of a summer transfer for Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez.

Forest reportedly made a €10 million (£8.7 million) bid for the 29-year-old this summer, with Ligue 1 side Lyon apparently interested. The Reds’ offer was judged “insufficient,” and the player himself is alleged to have turned down opportunities to depart last year due to his wife’s pregnancy.

According to the Spanish outlet ABC Sevilla, Forest may be able to get another shot at the club in the January transfer window. That’s because Betis have so far been unsuccessful in their attempts to tie Rodriguez down to a new contract.

Rodriguez is said to have turned down three new contract offers, thus opening the door for Forest to make a move. However, with other midfield additions made this summer, it’s questionable whether Steve Cooper will still want to add the Argentine to his roster.

This season, the midfielder has appeared in 12 La Liga games. He has only scored once, but he has already received five yellow cards. He was booked eight times in 34 games last season and scored one goal.

He was also a member of Argentina’s World Cup-winning team in Qatar in 2022. He only played one game in the tournament, a group game against Mexico, and spent the rest of the time on the bench.
