Paris Saint-Germain sensation ruled out of Newcastle United clash after ‘incredibly violent’ tackle

Paris Saint-Germain have been dealt a major injury blow ahead of next week’s Champions League clash against Newcastle United.

Warren Zaire-Emery, 17, is expected to miss Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League match against Newcastle United next week after suffering an ankle injury on his France debut.

Les Bleues won 14-0 at the Allianz Riviera, Nice’s home stadium. Zaire-Emery scored his country’s third goal but was injured in the 16th minute when he tapped home Kingsley Coman’s low cross.

He needed to be treated before being withdrawn. It was eventually revealed that Zaire-Emery had damaged his ankle, which France manager Didier Deschamps said will keep him out for “several weeks.”

“From the information I have, the examination is reassuring; there is no fracture, but there is a good big sprain,” Deschamps said after the game. This issue has already been set aside because it existed at the time, and it will be revisited when the act of terrible violence occurs again.

“I’d rather he remembers his first goal selection for that reason than for other, more negative reasons.” That’s what he did, but it didn’t last long. I hope he doesn’t have to wait too long.”

Deschamps supplied a timetable less than 24 hours later.

“It’s still a significant injury that will almost certainly take several weeks [to heal],” Deschamps said on the French television show Telefoot. “In games like this, you never want to lose guys. It could have been much worse.”

Report: Borussia Dortmund interested in signing Warren Zaïre-Emery

Zaire-Emery is back at PSG for therapy.

“The Paris-SG midfielder, who started and was injured against Gibraltar on Saturday evening, is made available to his club today,” France said in a statement.

“Warren Zaire-Emery, who was forced to leave the France-Gibraltar match (14-0) in the 17th minute on Saturday in Nice, went for X-rays and an MRI in the evening at the Saint-Jean de Cagnes clinic.”

“The midfielder for Paris-SG has a sprained right ankle.” He was returned to his club today.

“The French delegation will fly to Athens on Monday with a group of 22 players.”

PSG will play Monaco on Friday night before hosting Newcastle at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday.

The Ligue 1 champions will be without Zaire-Emery, who has started all but one of their 15 games this season.

Newcastle, who defeated PSG 4-1 at St James’ Park the night before, must win in France to keep their chances of reaching the Champions League knockout stages alive.
