Newcastle United scout name checks Jude Bellingham & Erling Haaland in major transfer hint

Newcastle United’s latest appointment has given an indication of what could lie ahead at St James Park.

The 60-year-old was appointed as the club’s head of global scouting earlier this month, giving him a vital position inside the United transfer hierarchy.

The decision to bring in the former Manchester United scout was hailed by Magpies manager Eddie Howe, who dubbed Bout as a “welcome addition” before last weekend’s defeat at Bournemouth.

The signing of Bout is the latest step in the continued development of United’s recruitment personnel, as the Dutchman joins a slew of new newcomers who have been confirmed at all age categories within the club in the last year.

Bout has now provided a clear indication of his remit as he tries to assist Newcastle in identifying ‘great prospects’ who might potentially follow in the footsteps of some of the biggest names in international football.

“I’m looking for the new (Erling) Haaland, (Jude) Bellingham, and (Jamal) Musiala,” he told The Mirror.

“I am focusing on young talent up to 23 years old who have the potential to get into Newcastle’s first team. My motto is that if you constantly look to the left then you can’t see anything on the right. So I look everywhere. Newcastle have brought me in to find all the big talents. I want to find the pounds among the pennies.

“It is my ambition not only to identify those big talents, but also to put everything in place so that these players can join Newcastle United right away.” I’d like to get them before they’re worth £100 million.”

The Magpies have already been connected with numerous potential teenagers in recent months, including Santos attacker Marcos Leonardo, Blackburn Rovers midfielder Adam Wharton, and Valencia standout Javi Guerra.
