Newcastle United internationals: A round-up of Magpies players called up to represent their countries during the break.
Multiple Newcastle United players participated in the international break, with some actively competing for their national teams while others had to withdraw due to injuries.
During the November international break, 14 players associated with the club were called up for national duty. Unfortunately, two players had to pull out because of injuries, and there was another withdrawal during the weekend.
As the Euro 2024 qualifiers draw to a close, several players from Newcastle United have been engaged in matches in preparation for the tournament in Germany next summer. Among them, two players from Newcastle were part of teams that secured their spots at Euro 2024 in the past week. However, some players faced challenging results during these fixtures.
Bruno Guimaraes, who recently celebrated his 26th birthday, encountered a tough time with Brazil in their World Cup qualifying matches. Brazil suffered consecutive defeats in their qualification campaign, a rare occurrence in their history. Their upcoming match against world champions Argentina adds to the challenges they face.
Newcastle United is anxious for the safe return of all their players from international duty as the team grapples with an unusual injury crisis under the management of head coach Eddie Howe. Presently, 14 first-team players are either injured or unavailable for the upcoming Premier League match against Chelsea after the international break.
Any additional injuries would severely impact Howe’s already depleted squad.
During this break, Newcastle players are representing seven different nations, and one of the club’s loaned players has also earned an international call-up.
Here is the list of Newcastle United players called up for their respective nations during the November international break…
1. Kieran Trippier (England)
Kieran Trippier played the full match as England beat Malta 2-0 to confirm top spot in their qualifying group. He has since withdrawn from the squad ahead of the match in North Macedonia due to personal reasons.
2. Callum Wilson (England)
Callum Wilson was called up to the England squad after scoring seven Premier League goals in five starts for Newcastle United this season but has been forced to withdraw due to injury.
Miguel Almiron was called up to the Paraguay squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Colombia but has been forced to withdraw due to a hamstring injury. Paraguay drew 0-0 against Chile on Friday morning.
The Newcastle United goalkeeper is back on international duty for the Euro 2024 qualifiers against Iceland and Bosnia. The goalkeeper earned his 41st cap for his country in a 4-2 win over Iceland to secure qualification. He was then an unused substitute in the 2-1 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina.
5. Bruno Guimaraes (Brazil)
The Newcastle midfielder is back on international duty with Brazil for the World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Argentina. But there was more international woe for Guimaraes as their qualification struggles continued with a 2-1 defeat to Colombia in which he played the full match. The result leaves Brazil 5th in the South America World Cup qualifiers.
6. Joelinton (Brazil)
Joelinton is also back with the Brazil squad after missing out on the previous squad due to injury. He was an unused substitute in the defeat in Colombia.
7. Emil Krafth (Sweden)
After making his return from a long-term injury with Newcastle United earlier this month, Krafth is already back with the Sweden national side for the Euro 2024 qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Estonia. Sweden can’t qualify for next summer’s tournament in Germany and their international woes continued with a 3-0 humiliation against Azerbaijan. Krafth came on as a second half substitute with Sweden trailing 2-0. He then returned to the Sweden starting XI as they beat Estonia 2-0. Photo: CHRISTINE OLSSON
8. Fabian Schar (Switzerland)
Schar is back with the Switzerland squad for the Euro 2024 qualifiers but sat out the 1-1 draw against Israel earlier this week. He was then an unused substitute as Switzerland secured qualification with a 1-1 draw over Kosovo. Next up is a match against Romania on Tuesday.

The goalkeeper is with Scotland Under-21s for the European Championship qualifiers against Belgium and Hungary. He was not part of the squad that beat Belgium 2-0.

Newcastle academy defender McArthur captained Scotland’s youth side to a 0-0 draw against Bulgaria and a 3-1 win over Andorra.
