Newcastle could become ‘concrete option’ for Champions League winning boss

Newcastle United could be a potential landing spot for José Mourinho if he doesn’t finalize a new contract with Roma. Reports from Il Tempo, via Corriere Giallorossa, shed light on the situation surrounding the Portuguese manager.

Mourinho is strongly inclined to continue as Roma’s manager in the long term, expressing a deep affection for the club and his life in the Italian capital. He’s rediscovered the joy of coaching at the Serie A club and doesn’t perceive his journey with them as nearing its conclusion at this stage.

Despite his desire to stay, Mourinho understands that his future depends on Roma offering him an extension to his current contract, set to expire next summer. However, there have been no discussions or plans initiated by the club regarding this matter, leaving Mourinho in a position where he might need to explore other options.

Saudi Arabia has presented offers from their Pro League, and Newcastle, with their uncertain plans, could serve as an alternative for Mourinho. While there are no ongoing talks between Mourinho and Newcastle currently, the possibility might arise if Roma doesn’t take action.

This isn’t the first time Mourinho has been linked with a move to St James’ Park; reports in 2022 also hinted at interest from those in charge at Newcastle. He remains a coveted figure for the Saudi Arabian regime, potentially making him a target if they decide to part ways with Eddie Howe, who has faced recent pressure in his role.
