Ruben Neves, a former Wolves midfielder, is one of the names being touted ahead of the January transfer window, with both Arsenal and Newcastle interested.
After a long period of speculation, the Gunners are apparently keen on bringing Neves to the club. Meanwhile, considering the links between PIF, The Toon and Al-Hilal, Newcastle may have an easier path to sign Neves.
Neves was one of the high-profile players who relocated to Saudi Arabia this summer. Many people were astonished at the moment, but he could end himself back in England in January.
According to writer Ben Jacobs, who spoke to GiveMeSport, there is only one place Neves is headed right now, and that is Newcastle.
Arsenal and Newcastle in mix to sign Ruben Neves
According to Jacobs of GMS, unless the Premier League modifies the rules, Neves will end up at Newcastle in January.
“We know Arsenal has considered Neves in the past.” That’s the first thing I’d like to say. But if Neves does transfer to the Premier League, I believe he will go to Newcastle, and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why, because of the tie between PIF owning Newcastle and PIF controlling Al-Hilal,” Jacobs added.
“The complication is obviously whether it is feasible based on a vote from the Premier League on November 21st, when the clubs will decide whether to temporarily ban associated party transactions, which would prevent Newcastle from attempting to sign Neves in January and thus give a club like Arsenal a clearer path if they chose to proceed.” But there is still nothing with Arsenal and Neves active.”
