It never rains, but it pours for Eddie Howe and Newcastle United, as another injury forces the club to enter the transfer market in January.
At the time of writing, the Magpies are the club with the most number of injuries.
With the addition of Callum Wilson to the list, Howe now has 14 players out (per Premier Injuries) and unable to call on them.
That’s a difficult pill for the team to take ahead of the remaining group games in the Champions League and some crucial upcoming Premier League matches.
With Alexander Isak also out, Howe is looking forward to the January transfer market as he looks to add some firepower for the second half of the season.
Hugo Ekitike, a 21-year-old marksman, is expected to pique the club’s interest again, according to 90Min.
The player selected Paris Saint-Germain over Newcastle during the previous transfer window, but isn’t getting much of a chance at the French club. Indeed, he has only played eight minutes in the 2023/24 season, according to the site.
To that aim, he should reconsider his alternatives.
Any January move is expected to be on loan in the first instance, and 90min has noted West Ham’s interest, who are desperate for their own striker.
