Despite missing the last two Premier League games for Burnley due to injury, Ameen Al-Dhakil was called up to the Belgium national team by Domenico Tedesco.
Given the centre-back’s recent fitness, that will have raised a few eyebrows, but the Clarets didn’t stop him from joining up with his country.
Burnley and their fans, on the other hand, can be reassured that the situation is improving, as Tedesco issued an update on the player’s position on Tuesday, as conveyed by Voetbal Nieuws.
The manager was quizzed about the 21-year-old’s fitness during a press conference ahead of their forthcoming games against Serbia and Azerbaijan.
“With Al-Dhakil, everything is under control,” Tedesco said. We have no doubts that he is also getting in shape.”
That means that the Burnley centre-back, who had started all ten Premier League games before to his injury, is on the mend and may play as soon as Wednesday if all goes well.
A situation that will be examined ahead of the game, but it’s excellent news for the Clarets, especially their fans, who may have been concerned that their defense would be rushed back into action.
