The Magpies have been without the summer signing since the end of September after he picked up a foot injury
Harvey Barnes of Newcastle United is back on the grass at Benton as he nears a return from a foot injury. The former Leicester City man was injured in the 8-0 thrashing of Sheffield United, but he is recovering well and hopes to rejoin the main group soon.
Eddie Howe, on the other hand, is not putting any pressure on Barnes to commit to a specific return date. Howe did have December in mind for Barnes after he recovered from his foot injury earlier than expected.
And if he can return for the busy holiday season, which includes eight games, it will be a huge boost for Newcastle.
Barnes’ return to action after initially having his foot in a protective boot has been a welcome sight for his teammates on the practice field. Barnes had scored on his Premier League debut against Aston Villa in a 5-1 thrashing and had looked promising in pre-season.
“There’s no doubt he’ll be disappointed because he was very keen to show his value and worth, and Sunday was an opportunity to do that,” Howe said at the time of the injury. But whatever the injury is, we’ll support him because we know he’s a top-tier player with a significant role to play.”
Due to the injury, he has missed three Champions League games as well as a number of domestic matches.
But there is now light at the end of the tunnel for the York-born forward.
