Director now convinced Milan will complete €12m deal for ‘fantastic’ midfielder

AC Milan remains committed to their strategy of investing in young talent for long-term development, with Assan Ouédraogo being a prime target. La Gazzetta dello Sport highlights the recent victory against PSG, where young talents like Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Rafa Leao, Malick Thiaw, Fikayo Tomori, and Tijjani Reijnders showcased the success of Milan’s vision on a grand stage. These players, selected from across Europe through extensive scouting, form an international team with an Italian captain but a global identity.

Both Milan and rival Inter are interested in 17-year-old Assan Ouédraogo, currently playing for Schalke 04 in the 2. Bundesliga. Geoffrey Moncada, tracking Ouédraogo since he was 15, sees him as a versatile, physical midfielder with various skills. While Inter has a more recent interest, they share the belief in Ouédraogo’s current effectiveness and high potential. RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich, and English clubs are also keeping a close eye on his development.

AC Milan express interest in Ouedraogo but face competition from different clubs

Ouédraogo, set to participate in the Under 17 World Cup in Indonesia, has missed recent games due to injury, prompting caution from Schalke. His situation mirrors that of Malick Thiaw, who transitioned from Schalke’s second tier to prove himself at Milan. Ouédraogo, younger and eager to finish the season and education in Germany, is not in a hurry to leave Schalke.

A potential move in June with both Milan and Inter vying for his signature is plausible, as he can be acquired by paying the €12m release clause, although Schalke may counter with a professional contract offer.
