Joelinton, along with Newcastle United teammate Bruno Guimaraes, has been called up to the Brazil squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Argentina.
Joelinton missed Brazil’s last international break after injuring his hamstring in Newcastle’s 2-0 win over Burnley. The 27-year-old has four senior caps for his country, scoring on his debut earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Guimaraes is a regular squad member for the five-time world champions, who are attempting to resurrect their World Cup qualification campaign after a draw and defeat during the last international break.
Both players have been in fine form for Newcastle in recent weeks, with the club going seven games unbeaten in the Premier League and reaching the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
Brazil visits Colombia on November 17 before hosting world champions Argentina on November 22, where they may face Ballon D’Or winner Lionel Messi.
Newcastle will play Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League group stage on Tuesday (5:45pm kick-off) at Signal Iduna Park before traveling to AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday, November 11 (5:30pm kick-off) before the international break.
With Newcastle’s squad currently beset by injuries, head coach Eddie Howe will be hoping that those on international duty stay healthy while away.
The Magpies will be without 12 players for the match against Dortmund due to a number of long-term injuries sustained in recent weeks.
Guimaraes is also suspended for the trip to Bournemouth after receiving his fifth booking of the season last weekend against Arsenal.
