Tottenham is reportedly considering a move for Wilfred Ndidi, who is nearing the end of his contract with Leicester. The North London club is interested in reuniting Ndidi with his former Leicester City teammate, James Maddison, in the upcoming January transfer window.
Leicester has been performing well in the 2023/2024 season, leading the Championship table after being relegated from the Premier League last season, winning 13 out of their 15 matches.
Since Ndidi’s contract expires in June, he will be eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club in January. Tottenham aims to position themselves as frontrunners in the race to secure the 26-year-old’s signature.
Reports suggested Ndidi wanted to leave Leicester during the summer, but he has since refuted these claims. He expressed confidence in his decision to stay after a conversation with the new manager, Enzo Maresca, during an interview on BBC Radio Leicester’s When You’re Smiling Podcast in September.
Ndidi, a key defensive midfielder at Leicester since 2016, has garnered the interest of various top European clubs. While Leicester is attempting to extend his contract, several teams, including Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Lyon, Monaco, Newcastle, Aston Villa, and Brentford, are monitoring his contractual situation.
