Alejandro Hernández will referee Newcastle United’s Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday evening.

Tuesday 7th November
Borussia Dortmund vs Newcastle United
Signal Iduna Park
Kick-off 5:45pm GMT/6:45pm CET

Hernández, a Spanish official, has been selected for the match, which will see United attempt to avenge their 1-0 defeat to the Bundesliga outfit on matchday three with a victory in Germany.

The 40-year-old is a seasoned referee who has worked in LaLiga, Spain’s top flight, since 2012. During that time, Hernández has presided over ‘El Clasico’ clashes between Real Madrid and Barcelona, and is widely regarded as one of his country’s best officials.

He was born in Arrecife, Canary Islands, and has been a FIFA-listed referee since 2014, allowing him to take charge of international matches.

Hernández has already done so twice this season, directing Italy’s 2-1 victory over Ukraine in September and Greece’s 1-0 loss to the Netherlands last month.
