Vincent Kompany has revealed that Burnley goalkeeper Arijanet Muric will be unavailable for next week’s match against Arsenal.
The goalkeeper will most likely be called up to the Kosovan squad for their rescheduled Euro 2024 qualifier against Israel.
The game, which had to be rescheduled due to the escalating conflict with Palestine, will now be played on November 12, the day after Burnley’s visit to the Emirates Stadium.
Speaking ahead of today’s home game against Crystal Palace, Kompany discussed how the international breaks are affecting the season.
“There have been a lot of international breaks,” he told reporters.
“We’ve gotten used to it in the last 12 months, whether it’s a World Cup in the winter or three or four breaks before the New Year.”
“We happen to be affected by something that is obviously on a much bigger scale, but the Kosovo v Israel game is being played a couple of days after our game against Arsenal, so we don’t have Aro Muric available for that game.”I understand why that game is being replayed and why we need to find a time, but the international break at the moment appears to have a significant impact on how you play out your season.”
Muric might not have started the game anyway, as he has been forced to fill in for James Trafford in the league this season.
Despite Burnley’s 3-0 defeat, the 24-year-old performed admirably in the Carabao Cup.
