Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper has confirmed that midfielder Danilo has returned to training following his latest injury.
The 22-year-old sustained a hamstring injury in Forest’s last victory over Chelsea on September 2nd.
Danilo has recently been photographed in training, but no comments have been made about his fitness.
Cooper, on the other hand, confirmed that the midfielder is back in training but has not set a date for his return to first-team action.
Cooper on Danilo’s fitness
Cooper admitted in his pre-match press conference yesterday that Danilo will not play this weekend, but that he is back in training.
“Danilo is back in training, not quite full training, but not far off.”
“So hopefully, he will feature for us in the coming weeks.”
Can Danilo pick up where he left off?
Danilo’s injury against Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea came at a bad time for the ‘talented’ 22-year-old, who had begun to show signs of his form from last season.
The midfielder had an incredible run towards the end of last season, scoring in three consecutive Premier League appearances.
When he returns to the first-team squad, he may find it difficult to unseat any of the current midfield trio.
Ibrahim Sangare, Orel Mangala, and Nicolas Dominguez have all been in excellent form, with Danilo facing a difficult task in regaining his starting spot.
