Allan Saint-Maximin sends two-word message to Newcastle United star after ‘outstanding’ Man United win

After Newcastle United’s victory over Manchester United, Allan Saint-Maximin expressed his admiration for his former teammate.

Allan Saint-Maximin has sent another public message of support to Joe Willock after the 24-year-old scored in Newcastle United’s 3-0 Carabao Cup fourth-round win over Manchester United.

The former Magpie joined Al-Ahli from Tyneside in the summer but has remained vocal in his support for his former club.

Willock and Maxi had a heartfelt interaction on an Instagram live last month while Willock was still sidelined due to injury, with the Frenchman lovingly saying: “I miss you so much brother.” I’m hoping you’ll return soon and show them- they’ll see.”

And they did, with the former Arsenal man scoring a stunning goal to seal Newcastle’s victory.

Maxi showed his support for Willock on Instagram, sharing Newcastle United’s post confirming Willock’s goal with the caption ‘My G.’

Willock hadn’t played for Newcastle since May, when he suffered a hamstring injury in the club’s season-ending home game against Brighton.

He was expected to return in pre-season, but suffered a significant setback, keeping the footballer out for five months.

And, based on his performance yesterday, the midfielder appears to be back to his best.

“I thought Joe was outstanding today,” Eddie Howe said following the game. “He’s a goal-scoring midfielder with the athleticism that we require.” You could tell how often he ran forward today.

“He’s a real threat, and he took his goal brilliantly, which was a pivotal moment in the game.” Joe made me happy.”
