Mehrdad Ghodoussi sends 10 word message to Bruno Guimaraes after Newcastle lose last night

Newcastle United player Bruno Guimaraes has stated that he is’very unhappy’ following the Magpies’ 1-0 Champions League loss to Borussia Dortmund.

Following their thrashing of PSG, Newcastle had a lot riding on their shoulders as they welcomed the Bundesliga heavyweights to St James’ Park.

There was genuine anticipation that Toon supporters would witness another memorable night on Tyneside, but it turned out to be more of a wake-up call.

Felix Nmecha, who Newcastle attempted to recruit in the summer, scored the game’s only goal, a clever finish on the stroke of halftime.

Eddie Howe’s team had a considerably more difficult evening, although they did create chances.

Gregor Kobel had to make multiple saves throughout the game, while Callum Wilson and Anthony Gordon struck the woodwork.

Newcastle would have gotten something on another night. Instead, they suffered their first Champions League defeat of the season, dropping them from first to third place in Group F.

Bruno Guimaraes is ‘disappointed’ after Newcastle’s Champions League loss.

Newcastle player Bruno Guimaraes posted to his official Instagram account following the game to provide an honest assessment of the defeat.

He wrote: “Very disappointed with the score tonight! I think we deserved more! No time to be sad we move on! Howay the lads.”

Bruno’s verdict prompted a reply from Toon co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi.

He commented: “You gave everything, just wasn’t our night. We go again.”

Mehrdad Ghodoussi is right about Champions League defeat

On Wednesday, it was clearly not Newcastle’s night. Small mistakes cost us, and that is what will cost you at this level.

Even the Dortmund goal comes from Anthony Gordon being on the verge of producing a wonderful opportunity. Dortmund has gone to the other end and scored after a challenge from Nico Schlotterbeck.

While Newcastle were not at their best, Howe’s team created enough opportunities. It just wouldn’t go in as the Magpies failed to capitalize on their home edge. Bruno may believe Newcastle deserved to lose, but it simply ‘wasn’t our night,’ as Ghodoussi explained.

Newcastle now faces two challenging away journeys to Germany and France before returning to St James’ Park to play in the Champions League.
