“Absolutely devastated” – Eddie Howe shattered after losing another key Newcastle United star

Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy was in excellent form until being struck by a hammer blow.
Eddie Howe is “absolutely devastated” for Jacob Murphy following his shoulder injury against Borussia Dortmund.

Murphy roared in rage as physios informed him of the damage he had caused just five minutes of coming on as a substitute against the Germans. The setback came only days after he put in a flawless display against Crystal Palace, scoring once and assisting twice in a 4-0 win at St James’ Park.

“I’m absolutely devastated for him,” Howe remarked. Let’s see how serious it is, but he’s been such a key player for us, playing in numerous places and having a fantastic attitude, so we’ll definitely miss him if he’s out.”

Alexander Isak also suffered an early blow, walking out after only 15 minutes. Howe acknowledged that the Swede has a recurrence of the groin problem that kept him out of the last international break.

The Newcastle manager attempted to find solace in his team’s valiant effort against Dortmund. And after creating more chances than the Germans, he realized the game was a result of bad luck rather than poor performance.

“Credit to the players because we never gave up,” he told Chronicle Live. We kept doing what was right. We did generate chances again, as has been our hallmark this season, and we looked like a goal threat, but like I said, it was just one of those nights where it just wouldn’t go in for us.”
