Newcastle United star reveals ‘big’ Champions League dream

One Newcastle United player is ready to make his Champions League debut against familiar foes.
Joelinton has expressed his delight at the prospect of making his Champions League debut for

Newcastle United. The Brazilian was injured and missed the draws with AC Milan and PSG, but he could start against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night after playing 80 minutes in the weekend win over Crystal Palace.

When asked if he was enthusiastic about the prospect of playing in the competition for the first time with United, Joelinton responded, “Yes, I’m extremely excited to play and hope I start the game…I’m not familiar with [the team]. I’m in a nice mood. I simply want to be a part of the squad and support the men on the field, and I’m hoping to make my [Champions League] debut for Newcastle on Wednesday.

Newcastle's Joelinton claims he received racist insults after Arsenal game

“It’s been a difficult start to the season for me because I haven’t been able to get involved with the guys and help the team in games.” But the boys performed admirably; this team is formidable.”

Joelinton is no stranger to Dortmund, having played against them on a frequent basis during his time at Hoffenheim. In 2018, he scored against Dortmund in a 1-1 tie.
The Magpies would remain top of their group with a win on Wednesday night, having gained seven points from their first three games – a very respectable result in what has been termed the “group of death.”

“We have done really well but we have to go game by game like we did last season and the season before.” Joelinton explained. “Just think about the next game and not think so long forward and try to do our best every game.”
