Nicolas Dominguez was extensively linked with a summer move to AC Milan, but the Argentine midfielder instead joined Nottingham Forest. He revealed the Rossoneri’s interest in a recent interview.
Milan kept a careful eye on Dominguez’s status throughout the summer, when Rade Krunic was linked with a move to Fenerbahce. The Rossoneri considered the 25-year-old as a suitable substitute for the Bosnian, but the latter chose to stay.
Dominguez was asked about the Milan links in the summer by Gianluca Di Marzio. He confirmed the Rossoneri’s interest and said he waited for them before joining the English team.
“Milan’s interest in the summer? Yes, there was talk about it and I read a bit about it. I also waited for the Rossoneri but nothing… I’m happy with the choice to come here. Life here is a bit different compared to Italy, but both my family and I are very happy here.
“If I have to be honest, I don’t miss Italy that much. We Argentinians are used to many cultures… Having said that, I thought, however, that adapting to this football was more difficult.”
Krunic has been a crucial player for Milan this season, and everything worked out nicely for everyone. However, given his age, Dominguez would have been an excellent prospect for the future. He has made three appearances for England this season.
