AC Milan midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek feels the team can achieve ‘big things’ this season due to a variety of variables.
Loftus-Cheek joined Milan from Chelsea during the summer transfer window, and he has been one of the most impressive performances, bringing physicality and dynamism to a midfield that needed to be rebuilt after the departure of Sandro Tonali.
Since joining, the Englishman has made the right mezzala role his own, though he has missed a few of games recently owing to muscle problems, and he is not likely to play against Juventus tomorrow.
Loftus-Cheek spoke with SportWeek in a lengthy interview (read the full interview here), where he discussed his opinions on the first few months at Milan, as well as why he believes the team may do well in 2023-24.
“At Milan, I have a free mind and I play the position as I like: it’s like being a child again when we played football without worries,” he said.
“This is the mental state in which I want to go on the pitch: on the pitch you want to have fun, enjoy your game, and also have the pleasure of working hard.
“If you are free, you play your best football. And if the whole team has this feeling, great things can be achieved. AreMilan the strongest team in Italy? Yes, we feel we are the best but for these things… we will see at the end.”
