AC Milan finally make decision on Olivier Giroud’s future

Despite not scoring for several weeks, AC Milan’s management appears to have made the decision to prolong Olivier Giroud’s contract, as reported by Corriere dello Sport through SempreMilan.it. Giroud, who has been goalless for about a month and a half after netting five times in the first four matches of the new season, recently contributed with two assists for Rafael Leao against Inter and Hellas Verona, though he hasn’t found the back of the net himself since his last goal against Roma in September, which came from a penalty.

This goal drought doesn’t seem to affect Giroud’s position as the starting striker, and he will continue in that role for the upcoming match against Juventus. Additionally, the club’s management is actively working on extending his contract for an additional season, which would take it through June 2025.

However, it is worth noting that Giroud is unlikely to play a leading role in the following season, a change from his current status at the club. Instead, the 37-year-old is expected to assist a new striker in acclimating to the team, and Geoffrey Moncada is eyeing Lille’s Jonathan David as a potential addition.
