Bundesliga giants now in race to sign top Milan target

The Bavarians may face heavy competition from Europe’s top for the signature of Ouédraogo.

Bayern Munich, which, along with RB Leipzig, has the league’s weakest squad, will be eager to increase their ranks during the winter transfer window. Following the departures of Marcel Sabitzer and Ryan Gravenberch, the Bavarians will be especially anxious to bolster their midfield.

Bayern Munich is rumored to be interested in Germany’s newest hot prospect, FC Schalke 04’s Assan Ouédraogo. According to Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, there appears to be “concrete” interest.

Bayern isn’t the only team interested in the 17-year-old.

The most interesting piece of information regarding Plettenberg pertains to the reduced release clause for Bundesliga clubs, which could make it more challenging for foreign teams while offering a slight advantage to Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig, who are both interested. Nevertheless, according to the latest report from Transfermarkt, AC Milan seems to be leading the race for Assan Ouédraogo, a player they had previously shown interest in during the summer transfer window.

Despite recent reports of several suitors, including FC Bayern, vying for Schalke’s rising star Assan Ouédraogo, it appears that AC Milan is emerging as the front-runner. According to reports from Sky and Gianluca Di Marzio in Italy, AC Milan’s interest is currently the most concrete, with the Rossoneri’s leadership aiming to arrange a meeting with the 17-year-old prospect this week.

Historically, Bayern Munich has been open to giving opportunities to talented 17-year-old players, as exemplified by Jamal Musiala and Mathys Tel. However, it is probable that Ouédraogo may receive more playing time at another club. Given his young age, the availability of minutes could be the decisive factor in securing his signing.
