Rayan Ait-Nouri loves O’Neil decision to revert formation as he admits he really likes to play as a wing-back

Ait-Nouri spoke on Wolves Weekly to discuss life at Wolves and the start of the new season.
Ait-Nouri has stated that he is really happy right now.

And he enjoys working for O’Neil, who he credits with giving him confidence.

“We’ve played like this before, five at the back, so I know the position,” the 22-year-old said of playing as a wing-back again. It’s good since it allows me to attack more. I need to keep defensively oriented in order to succeed in this section. I prefer attacking and shooting, and I have a better possibility of providing an assist or scoring.”

Signing for £10 million Ait-Nouri has long been known for his aggressive nature.

He carries the ball really impressively, with Dan Bentley recently claiming the youngster is actually one of the best dribblers he has ever seen.

Wing-back suits Ait-Nouri down to a tee

It’s been really interesting to see Wolves go back to a back three and wing-backs.

Of course, it is no longer the main formation at Molineux so, going back to it for certain games is always a fascinating concept.

But Ait-Nouri definitely suits playing as a wing-back.

He has the license to push a bit higher, where he can be dangerous with his attacking qualities.

This, in the knowledge that he will likely have someone like Toti Gomes mopping up behind him and covering the space.
