Bruno Guimaraes of Newcastle remains open to a move to Barcelona in the future.
Guimaraes was instrumental in Eddie Howe’s club qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in two decades at the end of last season.
His importance at St. James’ Park has expedited the club’s desire to lock him down to a new deal at the start of the current season, and the Brazilian international has agreed to a contract extension until 2028.
Despite the fact that his future appears to be settled, Guimaraes apparently remains committed to his long-term goal of playing for Barcelona.
According to Diario Sport, Guimaraes demanded that a ‘Barcelona provision’ be included in his new deal, which involves a cheaper transfer fee if La Blaugrana moves.
Guimaraes is now valued at roughly €85 million, but if Barcelona views the former Lyon player as their future midfield pivot, the price stated might be closer to €65-70 million.
