Bromley manager Andy Woodman has disclosed that he has been seeking to sign Deje Elerewe since before the start of the 2023-24 season.
The Charlton defender joined the National League club yesterday.
Elerewe also had a good loan spell with Bromley last season, arriving on a short-term deal in March.
The 20-year-old scored the winning goal in their 2-1 play-off victory against Woking but was sent off in their next match, which they lost 3-2 to Chesterfield.
“Deji was brilliant for us last year,” Woodman told BBC London. I have a lot of respect for him as a person, as a young man, and as a player. I’ve been trying to get him for the entire summer.
“He had hoped to break into Charlton’s first team, but that hasn’t happened.” A change in management might occasionally be beneficial to us at the lower levels. My responsibility now is to reintegrate Deji into our squad and have him perform admirably for us.
“I’m thrilled to have him on board.” I can’t thank the Charlton team enough for making it happen.”
