Fabian Schär scored twice in Newcastle United’s 4-1 Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain last week.
The Switzerland international, who is presently on the national team, scored in injury time at St James’ Park.
Blick spoke with Newcastle’s player, who discussed the game against PSG and stated that he’s “never experienced” such an atmosphere at St James’ Park.
The centre-back joined the Magpies from Deportivo La Corua in 2018 and is enjoying his time with the club.
Schär’s contract expires at the conclusion of the season, and Newcastle has the option to extend it for another year, according to Blick. He’s intimated that he wants a new deal from Eddie Howe.
“I consider Newcastle to be my second home.” I’m at ease with my team, coach, and club. “I’m really enjoying it, and I hope this journey continues,” Schär said.
The 31-year-old didn’t make more than 24 league games until the end of the 2020/21 season, and his fortunes improved after Howe came in November 2021. He has been a regular starter for Newcastle since then.
Blick believes the biggest reason for his desire to stay at Newcastle is the management.
“You can take something out every day. He has a very good feeling for what every player needs individually,” the player added.
