AC Milan will try to sell 29-year-old defender in January

Mattia Caldara returned to AC Milan in the summer after a loan spell with Spezia, however he has yet to play for the Rossoneri. According to reports, he is recovering from an injury and could depart the club in January.

Caldara underwent surgery on his right ankle in September, as confirmed by the club, and is anticipated to return at the end of November or early December. He is not expected to play a role for the Rossoneri.

Milan will try to sell the former Atalanta player in January, according to today’s issue of Corriere dello Sport (see photo below). It might not be simple to find him a club, and the worst-case scenario is that he stays until the summer and then leaves for free.

His contract will expire at the conclusion of the season, and clubs interested in him will most likely not mind waiting until the summer. Of course, given Milan’s desperation, he may be given away for pennies in January.
