Sam Collins, the Nottingham Forest Under-21 star, has provided a devastating report on his fitness. Last night, a youthful Forest squad beat Carlisle in the EFL Trophy, and the player was stretchered off the field.
The Reds won the game at Brunton Park thanks to second-half goals from Josh Powell and Ben Perry. It was Forest’s first triumph in the competition as an under-21 team.
Collins has been a key role in the Forest team’s locker room this season. He was given the captain’s armband last night, but the night ended on a bad note for him.
Collins confirms Forest blow on Instagram
The news for Forest midfielder Collins isn’t good, as expected by many in attendance last night. He took to social media today to disclose that he has a shattered tibia.
This is heartbreaking news for the 20-year-old, who had hoped to make a big impact this year. The midfielder has played practically every minute of every game for the Reds in their Premier League 2 campaign and will now undergo rehabilitation.
Collins typified his tenacious nature in getting injured. The problem arose when he flew into a 50-50 tackle with Owen Moxon and sadly came off worse than the Carlisle player.
Collins can bounce back from this
It’s never fun to see players suffer terrible injuries before they’ve even gotten a chance to play.
Collins will be looking for a professional contract, so this is a setback.
The midfielder hopes to be fully fit by the end of the 2023/24 season. He was playing some fantastic football under the tutelage of Warren Joyce and will be eager to return.
The maestro appears to be a determined person. His Instagram post makes him sound quite mature, and he presumably understands that this will only strengthen him as his career progresses.
