Forest scouts believe they’ve got two players as perfect replacement for Brennan Johnson

Scouts at Nottingham Forest believe the club now has two candidates to replace Brennan Johnson. On transfer deadline day this summer, the forward left the City Ground for Tottenham.

Johnson had been a revelation at Forest over the previous two seasons. He scored 19 goals in the team’s promotion season in 2021/22 and then eight goals in the Premier League last season.

The 22-year-old will now look to build a name for himself at Tottenham Hotspur in the coming months. He is now injured, having suffered a hamstring injury immediately after signing.

Scouts believe two studs can step in for Johnson.

Forest’s replacement of Johnson proved difficult. He was an important player, but it appears that the football club’s scouts believe two stars are capable.

According to The Athletic, the recruitment team saw things differently in the summer. This morning, it was reported that Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi are the two players who are being considered as potential replacements for Johnson.

According to the article, the combination of the two can mimic Johnson’s traits. Although they are not the same type of player, the pace of Elanga and the direct nature of Hudson-Odoi make them similar in tandem.

Johnson must be replaced by the Reds.

Johnson was excellent for Forest. However, there is no need in dwelling on these issues when his departure finally allowed the Reds to conduct some wonderful business.

Now it’s up to Steve Cooper to devise a strategy that ensures the Reds don’t miss Johnson. The notion is, very reasonably, that Elanga and Hudson-Odoi both have traits that can help bridge the gap.

Both players will require time to really replace Johnson. Elanga hasn’t played much in recent years, while Hudson-Odoi is seeking to regain his best form.

Cooper, on the other hand, is the man for the job. Clearly, the latest report indicates that there is some coordinated thought with recruitment, which should help cynics grasp the transfer program.
