Transfer latest: Burnley now eyeing January deal for 22-year-old Championship winger

Sunderland winger Jack Clarke appears to be garnering a lot of interest from Premier League clubs ahead of the January transfer window.

This comes after Football Insider reported thatĀ  Burnley isĀ  interested in the 22-year-old.

How has Clarke performed so far at Sunderland?

Clarke joined Sunderland on loan from Tottenham in the January 2022 transfer window, and during his first few months at the Stadium of Light, he helped the team gain promotion from League One to the Championship.

The winger then signed a permanent deal with Sunderland in the summer of 2022, and he was instrumental in the team reaching the Championship play-offs last season, where they narrowly missed out on promotion after losing to Luton Town in the semi-finals.
Clarke, on the other hand, has been a key figure for Sunderland in their excellent start to the season.

In total, the winger has 19 goals and 16 assists in 82 games with the Black Cats in all competitions.

As we approach the January transfer window, that form appears to be generating a good amount of interest in the 22-year-old.

Despite their derby defeat to Middlesbrough on Saturday, Sunderland have had a solid start to the season.

The Black Cats have 19 points from 11 league games this season, placing them fourth in the standings.

Tony Mowbray’s men return to action after the international break on Saturday, October 21st, when they travel to Stoke City.

Would Burnley benefit from signing Jack Clarke?

It appears that Burnley might benefit from making this signing.

After impressing in the Championship over the past year or so, it appears the winger may soon be ready to make the move to the Premier League.

Indeed, you get the impression he’ll only grow better with time, thus at 22 years old, he could be a valuable asset in the future.

Interest in the future would also make this a coup for whoever might sign him, so it would be no surprise to see a battle for his services once the window opens at the turn of the year.
