The latest injury and team news before of Wolves’ Premier League match against Aston Villa at Molineux.
Wolves and Aston Villa meet in the Premier League’s West Midlands Derby at Molineux on Sunday afternoon.
The game was postponed to Sunday to give Villa adequate time to recover after their Europa Conference League victory over HSK Zrinjski Mostar. John McGinn scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time to kickstart the Villains’ European campaign.
In their own right, both teams won big past weekend. Ollie Watkins scored a hat-trick for Villa against Brighton & Hove Albion in front of England boss Gareth Southgate.
The 27-year-old has been recalled to the Three Lions team for the first time since March 2022, and he has already scored seven goals this season.
Meanwhile, Wolves defeated the reigning Premier League winners Manchester City at Molineux. Pedro Neto’s effort prompted Ruben Dias to send the ball into his own net, giving Gary O’Neil’s team a dream start. Pep Guardiola’s team equalized through Julian Alvarez, but it wasn’t long before Hwang Hee-chan restored the hosts’ lead, and there was no way back.
The standings is bound to change before the two teams meet in their final game before the international break, but they are separated by ten places. Villa is fifth with 15 points whilst Wolves are on seven points.
When it comes to team selection, both teams have some challenges to work out, but Villa have been hit the most.
