Wolves have struggled to score goals this season, despite having two players carrying the attack.
This problem has already cost Wolves some points in narrow defeats that may have been avoided with improved finishing.
Many have begun to question why Sasa Kalajdzic, a £15 million acquisition from the summer of 2022, isn’t playing.
Kalajdzic was injured on his Wolves debut and missed the entire season at Molineux.
Many regard him as the answer to Wolves’ scoring troubles after demonstrating his scoring touch against Everton earlier this season with a late winner.
But he is still out of shape and struggling, and Gary O’Neil believes he will be for some time.
Gary O’Neil on Sasa Kalajdzic
Express and Star have claimed that despite playing regularly, Gary O’Neil expects Kalajdzic to have a lengthy recovery road ahead of him.
“He’s still got a long way to go to get back to pre-injury,” he added.
“He played 55 minutes the other night and was asking to come off at that point because he had nothing left in his legs, that’s where Sasa is at the moment.”
A concerning message implying that Kalajdzic’s injury issues aren’t over.
Sasa has the potential to be fantastic when fit
Kalajdzic has been impressive when given the opportunity this season, which should inspire a lot of confidence in him.
Wolves have two goals and an assist in just five games this season.
His size also fits the Wolves’ style of play, making him a target for Pedro Neto and Hee-Chan Hwang to play around and into.
A terrific fit, but we must ease him back to avoid worsening his ailment.
