Fraser Harper, a young midfielder, has signed his first professional contract with the club.
The 17-year-old signed a contract immediately after signing a scholarship at Molineux in the summer.
Harper joined Wolves from Bristol City when he was 13 years old and has demonstrated maturity above his years with performances in the under-18s and under-21s.
The midfielder has established himself as a part of Richard Walker’s 18s squad, but he has also seen play with James Collins’ 21s group.
Harper netted the winner on his under-21s debut in December in a Premier League Cup fixture against Cardiff City.
Harper has already played in Premier League 2 and was on the bench in the EFL Trophy victory against Notts County this season, before scoring goals for the under-18s in away games against Derby County and Nottingham Forest.
Jon Hunter-Barrett, Academy Manager for Football, is looking forward to the next phases of Harper’s development, saying, “We’re excited that Fraser has agreed his first pro with us since coming across from Bristol City aged 13.” It’s an exciting time for him and his family.
“Fraser demonstrates excellent maturity both on and off the field, and he is an excellent example of how the full-time program can work.” When he gets the ball, he is really quick and expresses himself well, and he can really surge through midfield to create or score.
“I’m hoping to see some consistency and continuity from him in the under-18s environment.” We want him to be prepared for the day when he is called up to the under-21s.
“He has a diverse training programme which gives him the opportunity to show and impress across both groups.”
