Burnley still very interested in sign 21-year-old PL star, he’s rejected them once before

Burnley are still interested in signing Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen.

This week, Jacobs reported on GiveMeSport that Chelsea wants Ian Maatsen to sign a new contract, but they may be forced to sell him in January if he does not extend his stay. This is due to the fact that his current contract will expire at the end of the season.
Furthermore, after turning down a summer move to Turf Moor, Burnley remain interested in signing the 21-year-old Blues star.

Maatsen had a wonderful year on loan with Burnley during the 2022/23 season, helping them achieve promotion from the Championship as championship winners.

However, the Dutch speedster chose to fight for his place at Chelsea this season rather than return to Burnley.

Most people will recognize him as an attacking left-back, but he’s spent the majority of this season playing higher up the pitch for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

According to the Telegraph, Pochettino has been impressed by Maatsen so far this season. However, his future is clouded by uncertainty.

His versatility has seen him impress as a winger or a No 10, but all of his Premier League appearances have come off the bench.

We’d like to see him receive a chance at left-back while Ben Chilwell is out with an injury, but Levi Colwill has that spot locked down for the time being.
