Nottingham Forest suffer fresh injury blow as 24-year-old will be out for long

In the summer, Nottingham Forest permitted Lewis O’Brien to join Middlesbrough. He joined on a season-long loan, but now there’s a disturbing update.

Michael Carrick, the manager, has stated that the player will be out for some time. He suffered an injury in the weekend triumph over Watford and will now undergo rehabilitation.

O’Brien agreed to terms with Forest in the summer of 2022 for a fee of £10 million. He arrived from Huddersfield after the Reds defeated them in the Championship Play-Off Final.

After Forest’s departure, O’Brien will spend some time on the bench.

Boro appeared to be making significant progress with the 24-year-old. He was doing well, albeit in an unusual position at Riverside Stadium as a left-sided wing-back.

It’s a painful blow for the athlete now. He hopes that surgery is not required this time and that he can return to the field to assist his teammates.

“He won’t be back anytime soon,” Carrick told the Northern Echo. It will take several weeks, if not months. He needs to see specialists and surgeons, so we’ll keep you updated.”

O’Brien needs to get in shape immediately.

This is far from ideal, and it’s difficult not to sympathize with O’Brien. There was a case to be made that he could have done a better job in the second part of the season.

Instead, he was left out of the 25-man roster and loaned to D.C. United. He performed admirably in Wayne Rooney’s team, earning him a move to Boro.

With games approaching thick and fast, this injury comes at the worst possible time. Forest and Boro will be praying for good news, and that he will be on the mend shortly.
