Newcastle star just confirmed he won’t be available for PSG Champions League clash

Newcastle striker Callum Wilson has stated that he will miss tonight’s Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain.

The return of Champions League football to St James’ Park for the first time in almost 20 years is likely to be a tremendous occasion, but one of Eddie Howe’s key players will now miss out.

Wilson, who joined the club from Bournemouth for £20 million in 2020, has never played a home game in the tournament and will now have to wait for his chance to play in front of the Newcastle faithful against Europe’s finest opponents.

Wilson reveals he will miss the PSG match.

PSG head to Newcastle tonight in what has been nicknamed the ‘group of death,’ with the French Champions overcoming Borussia Dortmund in the first round, while Howe’s team secured a draw at AC Milan.

Newcastle are dealing with a number of challenges, including the absence of Sven Botman and Harvey Barnes, and Wilson’s absence is a further blow to their hopes of victory.

Wilson expressed his regret at not being able to play in the match on the Footballers’ Football Podcast.

“Unfortunately, I will not be making the game, but it is what it is.” “There will be many more,” Wilson predicts.

Newcastle’s attacking options are limited.

Wilson has missed the last two games since leaving the 8-0 triumph, and Alexander Isak has led the line in both.

Howe has been eager to rotate the two, and with both in terrific form, the schedule seemed to be working.

With Wilson now out, Isak will almost certainly have to play the entire 90 minutes with no substitutes available.

Barnes and Matt Ritchie are out as wide possibilities, leaving only Miguel Almiron, Anthony Gordon, and Jacob Murphy as senior alternatives, and there is no other senior number nine available tonight.

Wilson will be disappointed to miss such a momentous occasion tonight, but as he points out, there will be plenty more opportunities in the remaining Champions League games as Newcastle seeks to advance from the group.
