Leicester City’s start to life back in the Championship could not have been better, with only one defeat in their first nine games.
While relegation from the Premier League was a great blow for everyone concerned, the Foxes have handled it really well thus far.
For example, in nine league matches, Maresca’s team has won eight and lost one, putting them towards the top of the league rankings at this early point of the season.
Last time out, the Foxes were convincing 4-1 winners over Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.
However, the Foxes will face a tougher test on Wednesday evening when they welcome Preston North End.
Preston have made a solid start to the season, and are only two points behind the Foxes in third heading into the midweek games.
Ryan Lowe’s team, on the other hand, has lost and drawn their last two games, so perhaps Leicester is playing them at the appropriate time. The only way to know is to wait and see.
However, Enzo Maresca has been addressing to the media in his regular press conference ahead of that match, during which he provided an injury update on a number of Leicester City players.
We’ve included the most recent Leicester City injury news below.
What is the most recent Leicester City injury update?
Kasey McAteer was the first player mentioned by Enzo Maresca during the news conference.
After coming on as a substitute, the 21-year-old lasted only 18 minutes before leaving the field with a hamstring injury.
Unfortunately, Maresca has confirmed that he will be gone for several weeks.
“It will take between four and six weeks,” Maresca told the reporters, according to LeicestershireLive.
“Kasey McAteer is the leading scorer, which means we’re in big trouble!”
“We’re disappointed because he was doing so well. He’s a fantastic guy who is both joyful and hungry. It’s a pity for him.
“It’s only for six weeks, but it’s probably a good time for him to rest after a good start.” He’ll be back with us soon.”
Which Leicester City players will miss the Preston game?
Aside from McAteer, Maresca revealed that the Foxes have no new injury concerns heading into tonight’s meeting.
This means that the club will be missing five first-team players, including McAteer, for the match.
Dennis Praet is one of the names scheduled to miss out due to a back issue.
Maresca said that the Belgian is also not nearing a return.
“I’m not sure about Dennis [Praet], but I think he can start in four weeks.” But not with us, he can start sprinting,” explained the Foxes manager.
Other players are expected to leave the Foxes as well.
Jannik Vestergaard is suspended, Tom Cannon is out with a back ailment, and Callum Doyle is out with a long-term knee injury.
When does the match between Leicester City and Preston North End begin?
The eagerly anticipated Championship match between Leicester City and Preston North End is scheduled for Wednesday, October 4th at the King Power Stadium in Leicester.
The match is set to begin at 19:45 p.m. in the United Kingdom.
